Investing our hard earned money is one way closer to our financial freedom. It is very important that we are aware of all the possible investments to grow our money. In the Philippines we can grow our money in several ways like franchising, high yield savings account, treasury bills, commodities and precious metals. Many are asking if where to invest money in the Philippines? As I've mentioned there are plenty of choices where you can invest your money, it is up to your risk appetite, passion and capital.

In this post, I listed the top 5 best places to put your money in the Philippines.

Here are the Best Places to Invest Money in the Philippines

1. Mutual Funds - Some are not even familiar of the word mutual funds, it is a form of investment where money are pooled and someone knowledgeable in investing or called as investment manager handle the money and put it in different types of investment like bonds, stock market and other securities. Mutual funds is less risky than other kinds of investment instruments.

2. Unit Investment Trust Funds (UITFs) - This is very similar to mutual funds, like mutual funds this kind of investment is also less risky. If you are interested in opening a UITF you can go the bank nearest you and ask regarding this investment product. Some of the good performing UITFs are from BDO, BPI and PNB.

3. Real Estate - In the growing economy of the Philippines it is a good move to invest in real estate. You need to have a big capital if you want to invest in real estate. The good thing is there are banks and other financial institutions where you can lend money. Just make sure that you have sufficient knowledge and do your research before entering in this kind of investment.

4. Small Business - Having a business is one of the best place to put your hard earned money. Time, passion and knowledge are the best ingredient in building a successful business. If you don't want to start from scratch there are now a lot of available companies who are offering franchise, you can start by franchising first and when you are already knowledgeable on how to run a business then try to put up your own brand.  You can also start now with small capital like the food cart that cost roughly 25,000 or less depending on the products.

5. Stock Market - Another great place to invest money in the Philippines is the stock market. Statistics shows that only 1% of the Filipinos are investing in the stock market, it is maybe because there are a lot who don't know about it or some are afraid in stock market due to horror stories about it. Stock market is a place where you can double or triple your money in few months or years. You can't always guarantee gain in the stock market so before deciding to invest in stock market read first and study.

“Bank 4 you” going to Southeast Asia

The interest of the European companies in the Philippines tends to increase with each coming day. And the UK-based fintech start-up Bank4You has also looked up at this direction. This company was established in 2014. Regardless to its brief history, B4U managed to get serious partners on the line – the VISA cards are issued by the “Royal Bank of Scotland”; and these cards are processed by Cashflows, one of the biggest processing centers in the United Kingdom. Besides, the B4U Student Card is quite well-known at the European market of financial digital solutions. The company takes part on regular basis in different conference and exhibitions dedicated to financial digital solutions.

The product that B4U Card Solutions presents at the Philippines is the VISA Student card. It is a specialized solution for young people who plan to get education in UK and Europe. What is B4U Student card? It is a prepaid VISA card in GBP or EUR, and you can order it online! One of the major advantages of this card is that you don’t have to be a citizen or resident of the United Kingdom or any other European country. The card is delivered free of charge, and is made from the United Kingdom within 10 days after payment.
According to CEO of the B4U Card Solution (start-up), Adam Lane, the Company is reliant on the Southeast Asian market, and the Philippines in particular. As Mr. Lane remarked: “Youth at the Philippines is notable for its ambitions and sense of purpose, and the Bank4You solutions are developed for exactly such people. ”
Let’s wish this company luck in conquering our market.

Effective Ways to Save Money as a Student in Philippines

Effective Ways to Save Money as a Student in Philippines

As a student the best way to buy and do your wants is to save money since you don't have any source of income. It's a typical scenario that a student is begging extra money from their parents, are you one of them? If yes, then you should start saving and take note of the most effective ways to save money as a student in the Philippines. In this post, I round up the most effective and best way on how to save money as a student in the Philippines.

Best Ways to Save Money as a Student in Philippines

1. Buy in Bulk - One way you can save money as a student is to buy in bulk. For example, when buying pad paper it is less expensive to buy one pad or two rather than buying per piece. Also, to those who are living in an apartment or board spacing it is way better to buy your toothpaste, soap, shampoo, snacks and other stuff in large volume to avoid going out and spending much money.

2. Open a Savings Account - I know that as a student, opening a savings account is not your priority but having one will be a great help in  handling your money and will surely help you in the future. Saving is one essential thing to consider specially when emergency arise, at-least you have money to cover the expenses rather than incurring debt.

3. Borrow Books - If you know someone who has similar or related major like yours then try asking them if you can borrow their books. Buying books now is very expensive specially college/preference books so as far as possible try borrowing books to save money.

4. Buy Second Hand Books - Other alternative way that will save you some bucks is to buy second hand books. Today, it is now very easy to purchase second hand books, try looking through sites like Instagram, Facebook and OXL. You can find second hand books there in good condition and some are as good as new.

5. Have a Budget Plan - Creating a budget will save you big. Make sure that you stick to  your budget plan. There are a lot that created a budget plan but having a hard time to stick with it which is make their budget plan useless.

6. Live Below Your Means - Being a student, you should practice living below your means. Meaning don't buy or live in a lifestyle you can't afford. I can observe that most millennials are more into a social climbing lifestyle which is very unhealthy and will just make them broke. If you can buy unbranded clothes and basic phone then go for it rather than buying those branded products .

7.  Cut Out Your Vices - As a student, having vices is not a good and cool thing since you're spending your parents money not yours. The common vices now to most students are clubbing and playing computer games, rather than wasting your time to these kind of stuff why not spend it studying and reward your parents with high grades.

8. Avoid Going to Malls - Going to malls will just result to impulsive buying specially when you have some money in your pocket. As much as you can just go to the mall when you have something to buy and avoid roaming around to avoid temptation of spending to something that you don't really need.

9.  Bring/Make your Own Baon - I know you can observe that foods in canteens are a bit expensive than bringing your own foods. If you have some skills in cooking then this is the best time to apply it.

10. Walking to School - If your house or apartment is near the school better walk aside from saving its a good exercise as well. Make sure you have with your umbrella to protect you from rain or heat.

Best Ways OFW's Can Invest in the Philippines

Best Ways OFW's Can Invest in the Philippines

In every OFW or those working abroad primary goal is to go back home and be with their families. One of the best ways to achieve this goal is to invest and grow their money in the Philippines. There are several ways an OFW can invest in the Philippines. It's very crucial and hard to choose where they will put their hard earned money and secure it for the future needs. As what everyone says, that every OFW need to realize that they can't work forever so they need to start investing and making wise financial decisions. Investing in the Philippines is a huge opportunity for financial independence of our overseas Filipino workers. In this post, I round up the Best Ways OFW's Can Invest in the Philippines.

Here are the Best Ways OFWs Can Invest in the Philippines

1. Small Business - It takes time and knowledge as well as capital and other factors to build a successful and profitable business. The good news is it is very possible to make a profitable business specially in the Philippines. There are now available small business ideas like starting a food cart business, water refilling station and rice re-seller. If you don't want much to think and have decent capital then you can try franchising, the return of investment is fast and more secure.

2. Real Estate Investment - Real Estate Investing in the Philippines is still one of the best options when it comes to investment. The cons of real estate investing is that it requires a huge capital but the return is big.

3. Mutual Funds - Mutual Funds is one of investment forms that requires very low investment capital for as low as 5,000 pesos. Many consider that mutual fund is the easiest and simplest way to invest your money in the Philippines. In mutual fund you're free to when you will add your investment and the risk is very minimal compared to other investing instruments.

4. Unit Investment Trust Funds (UITFs) - Unit Investment Trust Funds (UITFs) is actually very similar to Mutual fund wherein the money is pooled and invested by an investment manager for the goal of growing it. UITFs are commonly offered by banks, you can ask your bank or the one nearest to you and ask if they're offering the said instrument and they will explain it thoroughly before allowing you to open an investment account with them.

5. Stock Market - Compared to Mutual Funds and Unit Investment Trust Funds (UITFs) stock market is the riskiest but with bigger returns. Take note that you need to be knowledgeable before investing in the stock market because there is a big possibility that you may lose all your money. Like what I've said stock market is very risky.
